HairMax Ultima 12 LaserComb Overview & Demo

This year, I turned 40. And, since around the time I turned 30, my hair has been thinning in the crown, as well as the parietal ridge, temples and nape. I have used lasers and light therapy devices at-home for hair removal, anti-aging and acne, but had not heard of using a laser device to help regrow hair until I stumbled across a post on Instagram for the HairMax Ultima 12 LaserComb, which is an 8 minute laser light hair growth device, clinically proven and FDA approved for men & women. After seeing the post on Instagram, I immediately began researching laser light therapy for hair growth, looking for scientific information, and scouring the internet for before & after photos. I reached out to HairMax, shared my story with an interest in trying their products, and HairMax graciously sent me an Ultima 12 LaserComb with the 4pc. Den•si•ty Hair Care bundle. I am so grateful to have received these products from HairMax to help regrow my hair. I will be sharing my results with you all here on my blog in the coming weeks.

And, so begins my HairMax journey… After receiving the Ultima 12 LaserComb, I plugged it right away to charge while I began reading the user manual. I have used the device three times so far and it is SO easy to use! Each treatment only lasts 8 minutes, and the device is very lightweight. At first, I was worried that my hand and arm would get very tired and sore, but that is not the case at all. I can use the LaserComb while watching TV, reading a book, or even walking around the house, its that easy. I am so excited to see how well the device works long term and am looking forward to sharing my results over the next 16 weeks trial period. If you are experiencing hair loss and are undecided whether HairMax will work for you, please revisit my blog over the next 16 weeks to see progress photos and additional thoughts that I will be adding to this post. I hope my story and progress updates will be of some help to you. Continue reading, and please feel free to send an email or reach out on social to connect and follow me for updates!

Hair loss and thinning hair isn’t something that most of us like to talk about, but statistically speaking, one in four women will suffer from hair loss. Men may be more likely to lose their hair than women, mostly due to male pattern baldness, but hair loss and thinning hair are also common in women, and no less demoralizing. Reasons can range from the simple and temporary—a vitamin deficiency—to the more complex, like an underlying health condition. In many cases, there are ways to prevent and treat male and female hair loss, depending on the cause. The most common cause of hair loss is androgenic alopecia, better known as hereditary hair loss or female pattern baldness.

Compared to the expensive cost associated with hair transplant procedures by hair transplant doctors or plastic surgeons, HairMax offers more affordable hair growth solution products that can be purchased online, and deliver the same desired result without the risks associated with hair transplant procedures.

According to WebMD and the U.S. National Library of Medicine:

  • While hair transplant cost will depend largely on the amount of hair you’re moving, it generally ranges from $4,000 to $15,000.
  • Insurance plans do not cover hair transplant cost, as it’s cosmetic and not medically mandatory.
  • The risks of hair transplant include bleeding, inflammation, infection, scarring, and unnatural-looking new hair growth.
  • It’s possible to suddenly lose some of the original hair in the area where you got the new strands, called shock loss. But most of the time, it’s not permanent.

Helpful information and facts about hair loss:

Did you know that the average woman loses between 50 and 100 strands per day, even up to 150 in some cases? But, if you’re like me, and you feel like you’ve started to lose an excessive amount of hair each day, try this trick: Take about 60 hairs between your fingers and pull, running your fingers through your hair. Usually between 5 and 8 hairs, which is ‘normal’.  An excess of 15 hairs, however, is not as common and means you are losing more hair than you should be.

Here are some common and not-so-common reasons you might be seeing less hair on your head: physical stress, pregnancy, too much vitamin A, lack of protein, male pattern baldness, heredity, female hormones (contraceptives), emotional stress, anemia, hypothyroidism, Vitamin B deficiency, autoimmune-related hair loss (alopecia areata), dramatic weight loss, chemotherapy, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), antidepressants, blood thinners, overstyling (tight braids, clogged hair follicles from product build-up, Trichotillomania (impulse control disorder), aging, anabolic steroids.

Trophy Skin BlueMD Blue Light Therapy For Acne

For several months, I’ve been using the BlueMD Blue Light Therapy from @TrophySkin and it has changed my skin so much that I could never be without it. For the first 30 days, I used the device 3-5 days per week for 15-20 minutes each session (one session lasts five minutes). Within the first week of use, the redness and inflammation in my skin dissipated dramatically and my acne appeared to be healing much quicker. After the first month of usage, a few old acne scars that looked like sun damage (not pitted scars) had become lighter in appearance. The BlueMD does not irritate my skin, it is non-invasive, and there is no ‘down time’ after a treatment, and I can take it with me when travelling if I need to. If you’re reading this, thinking about cost of the BlueMD, you would pay much more at a MedSpa or Dermatologist’s office. The cost of blue light acne therapy ranges from $40 for a single treatment to about $1,000 to $1,500 for a full treatment package, including several weekly sessions. The BlueMD can be used thousands of times without needing ‘refill cartridges’ and the LED lights are of professional quality. If you’re still on the fence, and thinking about the cost of the BlueMd, I can help you with a discount: Get 10% OFF with coupon code: ninesacloud

Because my acne is usually on my neck and on both sides of my face around my ears, I use the device 2-3 times per week and each session is usually 15-20 minutes. I keep my BlueMD safely tucked away under a table so it is easily accessible whenever I would like to get in a quick treatment. In the mornings, I usually get in a 5-10 minute session, and at night, I may use it for 20 minutes, depending on the severity of my breakouts and how much time I have.

Depending on your skin type and the frequency of usage, your results will vary from the outcome of others that have used this device. You also may notice a little dryness of flaky skin patches. Make sure you follow the user manual and visit the website or call customer service with any questions or concerns you may have about the device.

The first two photos were taken indoors when I had very red, inflamed and irritated active acne. The third photo is me on a ‘good day’ in natural lighting with a smoothing filter, when I only had one blemish on my forehead and a couple under my chin that you can’t see in the photo. The sun damage on my orbital bone appears lighter also.

If you suffer from any type of blemishes, I highly recommend that you try the BlueMD by Trophy Skin.

Topicals can only do so much for helping to clear existing breakouts, so sometimes you need extra help to alleviate the inflammation, prevent future breakouts and kill the acne-causing bacteria. That is where the BlueMD comes in. In addition to your regular topical products that you use for clearing your blemishes, the BlueMD will kill the acne causing bacteria. Cleaning up your diet is also another way to help clear blemishes from the inside out.

Tria Hair Removal Laser 4X

The Tria Hair Removal Laser 4x is the first and only FDA-cleared hair removal laser available for home use, using the same diode laser technology preferred by dermatologists. The Tria Laser 4X targets and permanently disables the hair follicle to stop hair growth on the face and body for permanent results, score. The device comes with a skin sensor that scans your color of skin and lets you know if it is safe for your pigment or not. You also are urged to test patches of your skin on low settings before so you can gauge your skin’s reaction to the treatment before going to town on your entire body.

If you’ve ever waxed or epilated, you could most likely handle the sensation of the Tria Hair Removal Laser 4X. The feeling is like little rubber bands snapping against your skin. In the beginning of each treatment, I sometimes use a numbing cream that I purchase online to help me tolerate the treatments in more sensitive areas, which helps. Using this laser is WAY better than having swollen, bleeding and irritated skin after yanking the hairs out from waxing or epilating, I promise you…. Level 3 is definitely more effective, but honestly it is also a little more uncomfortable. I have not actually been able to use any levels higher than 3 just yet, but I’m hoping to get there in the next month or so.
